Chat Hosts – Redundant Or Relevant?
When you play at any of the bingo brands available online today you will find many, if not all, of the rooms looked after by a chat host. These people are employed by the operators to oversee a number of things in the chat rooms and are responsible for maintaining a certain standard at the site but the question is are chat hosts really relevant in today’s bingo market?
For me personally I don’t really pay much heed to the chat host, I’m there to play bingo, I don’t participate in the chat games and to be honest, sometimes many of the rooms can seem a bit ‘clicky’ with the obvious ‘regulars’ appearing to get preferential treatment.
Of course I could easily become a regular and divulge an abundance of personal information about myself and form a relationship of sorts with roomies and hosts but I choose not to.
These hosts are paid between £6 and £10 an hour to work on the sites and for that they have to ensure that order is maintained in the room at all times. They ensure that other brands are not promoted in the rooms, maintain a certain etiquette (i.e no swearing, racial comments, sexual references) and run the chat games that earn winners bonuses. However in my personal opinion I’d like to see the money paid to hosts in the prize pots because I think they are now redundant and surplus to requirements.
There have been instances where hosts have been known to play on the site that they work at or a sister brand, something else I don’t agree with, and even a couple of situations where bingo points, the free bingo currency, was being credited to other hosts accounts. Of course the latter situation was dealt with and the host in question ‘fired’ but it still begs the question, are chat hosts no longer required?
Don’t even get me started on the power trip some seem to be on!
