Gala Bingo Slapped With An Advert Ban

Thursday, Jun. 22nd 2017 7:46 AM

When any online bingo brand chooses to advertise their wares on television, they are required to adhere to a number of strict rules. These are laid out in the UK Code of Broadcast Advertising (BCAP Code). This code is applied to all adverts and over the years, many bingo sites have fallen foul of the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) for breaching a number of different codes. Recently it was the turn of Gala Bingo and an advert for a promotion that focused on The Chase bingo at their site.

In this instance, the one complaint that was received about the Gala Bingo advert was focused on the small print that appeared on the screen. The complainant felt that it was illeligible and the ASA agreed which resulted in the complaint being upheld, and the advert not to be shown again in its current form.

Iceland Bingo Back On The Small Screen

Thursday, Mar. 23rd 2017 7:13 AM

We’ve seen a number of bingo sites launch new advertising campaigns on TV recently and one of them is Iceland Bingo. It’s been a while since they have touted their wares on the small screen and we have to say, the new commercial is pretty dull in comparison to some that we have seen.

Iceland Bingo are currently giving away £10 Iceland food vouchers as part of the welcome package that they are offering players. Although the vouchers are mentioned in the advert, they are not the main focus and actually, it’s not even clear that they are part of the deal for new players. This may be because they want to maintain this advert for further use after the deal has ended.

When it comes to themed bingo games, Gala Bingo has scored quite a few big names for their portfolio over the years. The site boasts Coronation Street Bingo and Emmerdale Bingo and we’ve seen stars from both soaps appear in commercials for the brands. The most recent addition to the site has been The Chase Bingo and now The Chasers, the quiz muscle of the TV show, are the stars of the latest advert from this well-known brand.

The Governess, Ann Hegerty and The Dark Destroyer, Shaun Wallace, both star in individual adverts for Gala Bingo and we’re sure for fans of the show, they will certainly hold some appeal.

Weather Report Commercial From Jackpotjoy

Tuesday, Nov. 8th 2016 7:37 AM

Barbara Windsor is back on our screens but don’t worry, Peggy Mitchell hasn’t done a Bobby Ewing, she’s back as the Queen of Bingo in the latest Jackpotjoy commercial. There’s no blue balls to be playing with in this advert though, in fact, if we are completely honest, Barbara seems a bit wooden!

We’ve always been big fans of the Queen of Bingo from Jackpotjoy, she certainly enhances the player connection, but in this advert it just doesn’t flow. Could it be that she needs to hang up her bejewelled dress and hand her bingo tiara to another celeb? That said, the commercial isn’t nearly as bad as some that we have seen over the years from other sites!
