New National Bingo Game At Your Local Club

Many online bingo players have also visited their local club for a game or two and if you do this on a regular basis, and have been recently you will have noticed that the National Game has changed quite a bit. On 6th February 2017, the game started to offer more ways to win and the changes are already proving both lucrative, and popular, with retail bingo players.

Prior to the amendments, the National Bingo Game boasted just three prizes; the in-house prize of your club for calling the full house, the regional, and the national but all could only be won by calling the full house. The latter two only if you had called in the lowest amount of numbers in participating clubs like Gala Bingo or Mecca (some independents also join).

Corrie Star Moonlights As Bingo Caller

Antony Cotton who plays Sean Tully in ITV’s Coronation Street has revealed that he works as a bingo caller when he’s not playing his role in the show. Bingo callers have always been known as a flamboyant lot so maybe it should come as no surprise that it would appeal to the actor type, and that’s exactly how Antony Cotton explains it!

As he says, it supports his income, but mainly an audience is an audience and he says he loves what he does whether it’s in front of the cameras, in a theatre or in a bingo hall.

National Bingo Win For Cumbrian Gran

A Great Grandmother from Cumbria is almost a quarter of a million pound richer after a win on the National Bingo game at her local bingo hall. The unnamed 84-year old from Wigton is to receive £239,966 after the win in the Opera Bingo Club in Denton Holme, Carlisle where she won the National prize played across the country simultaneously.

It’s a super win for the very lucky lady but it’s also a super event for the Opera Bingo clubs as it’s the biggest prize ever won in one of their clubs too!

Players Sad To See Hoxton Mecca Close

Players this week have spoken of their sadness at the news that the Mecca Bingo club on Hackney Road, Shoreditch, London is to close for redevelopment. The former cinema has been a bingo hall for more than half a century but is about to close its doors for good after suffering financial losses for a while now.

Regulars at the club have spoken out to say how sad they are at the closure of the club, in what has been a devastating decade for the land bingo industry. The club will now join the ranks of many a closed bingo hall, relegated to history forever.

Bingo Fanatic Declares Game Kept Her Young

People have spent millions on the quest for eternal youth, from serums to tonics, from facelifts to botox, life is full of people running hard from old age. But according to 94 year old bingo fanatic Ethel Denny, the elixir of youth is a good old game of bingo, and a traditional pampering are the key to keep any lady with youth on her side!

Ethel Denny has been a regular at the Beacon Bingo hall in her local Stockton-on-Tees are for quite a while, although she has to travel by taxi to get there now so many bingo halls are closed. She’s seen the game through since its heyday having played for the last 30 years, and as expected she celebrated her birthday in the bingo hall with a tipple of sherry.
