Regal Bingo Background And History
We don’t currently have any information on the closure of this club, but if you do and would like to share it with us, please contact us here. What little information that we currently have is limited to the building’s past life as a cinema.
Located in a small town in North Kent it is not surprising that the original ‘Regal’ only had a seating capacity of 788. It was designed by Frederick E. Bromige, a noted cinema architect, and it was in the Art Deco style as were many in the day. The frontage was quite bold despite it’s diminutive size, and unfortunately the interior has now been demolished, so without any pictures we won’t be able to see the decor.
As far as we know, it ceased to be a cinema in the sixties, and was converted to a bingo hall which only lasted until 1974.
Date Of Club Closure: March 1974
