Silverline Bingo Background And History

We don’t currently have any information on the closure of this club, but if you do, and would like to share it with us, please contact us here.

Silverline Bingo was located in the premises of what was once the St James Theatre. The theatre which opened in 1907 was renamed the Picture Dome three years later, and closed in 1923. The cinema was the re-named ‘La Scala’, but this was gutted by fire in 1934.

reopening the same year after restoration, the cinema resumed business as usual until its closure in 1960 when it was reopened as Thurland Bingo CLub. The club which was renamed ‘Silverline’, closed in the 1990s although we are not exactly sure why. In a weird twist of fate, there was another fire at the building in 1993, and again the building has ben restored, and reopened as a cinema.

Date Of Club Closure: Circa 1993
