Mecca Bingo Background And History

In April 2007 Mecca Bingo stated that they would be closing their Wolverhampton Club in anticipation of the smoking ban. This move was based on pre-empting the effects that had been observed in Scottish halls.

A modern style building it was built in 1937, and opened as the Odeon Cinema. With a seating capacity of 1270, it was designed by architect P.J.Price an did not follow the Art Deco style of many other cinemas of the day. The building was added to the Listed Buildings list in 2000, eight years after it was converted into a bingo hall, and it’s current usage is not known by us.

If you have any further information on the closure of this club and its prior history, and would like to share it with us and our site visitors, please contact us here.
