The Savoy Bingo Club Background And History

The Savoy opened as a cinema and theatre in 1929 and is a good example of the Neo Classical style of architecture that was fairly common for bingo halls of that era. The architect John Fairweather designed the cinema which included two dressing rooms, and classical columns – a feature that is synonymous with theatres and over the past thirty years, bingo halls.

The club closed in the 1960s, and was taken over as a bingo hall which has not survived the current economic climate, although we are not sure of the precise details of its demise. If you have any further information on the closure of this club and its prior history, and would like to share it with us and our site visitors, please contact us here.

Date Of Club Closure: TBA
