Network Bingo And Mandalay Media

Monday, May. 5th 2014 7:12 AM

What makes a bingo network a network? That’s a very good question, and until now we’ve always based our network findings on several things, namely shared bingo rooms and shared chat and promotions but it seems that bingo sites can be networked in all kinds of ways, and separate chat rooms and promotions don’t always mean non-networked bingo.

Last week Rio Bingo launched (review to follow), and industry insiders were surprised to find so many players in the bingo rooms of a brand new bingo site. Rio Bingo has launched on the Mandalay Media brand, well known for many standalone bingo brands such as City Bingo, Fancy Bingo and others. However, after an investigation into the brands, we discovered that all was not how it seemed!

Will Online Bingo Tax Be A Jackpot For The Treasury

Wednesday, Nov. 27th 2013 7:47 AM

Land bingo providers have long been complaining about high taxation, and as they are actual companies on the high street, there’s no avoiding it. Unlike the online bingo market who license brands offshore, land bingo clubs can’t avoid any taxes, but now a change to the law will mean that online clubs are as liable as real ones, and it could be a big jackpot for the Treasury.

We often see bingo sites licensed in Alderney, Gibraltar and other territories around the world, and the reason for this is taxation. By licensing a club overseas, the company avoids paying high taxation, but all that is to change as new laws are to make taxes dependent on the country of the player, not the license!

Gala Bingo Up For Sale

Monday, Oct. 7th 2013 7:47 AM

It’s been reported that Gala Coral is preparing for a stock market flotation, although there are several hurdles to get over before the company is ready to get there. Gala Coral is considering the sale of the 140-strong collection of bingo halls around the UK, reportedly worth £250 million as it readies itself for the stock market flotation and it seems that the sale of the bingo arm is what they feel they need to do to get there.

MP Drops Into Doncaster Bingo Hall

Wednesday, Sep. 18th 2013 7:57 AM

It’s said that they love bingo up north, and there’s no doubt the area holds a huge number of bingo players, both those who play online and those who head down to their local bingo halls. That in mind, maybe it’s a clever political ploy that MP Rosie Winterton dropped in at the Gala Bingo club in Doncaster to discuss high taxation experienced by bingo halls.

The bingo tax is something we’ve talked a lot about, a massive 20% for bingo halls, and it’s little wonder that so many players are choosing the online option rather than heading down to their local bingo hall. Halls are closing down at an alarming rate and it’s something that MP Rosie Winterton is promising to battle.

Money Saving Expert To Take Up Bingo?

Friday, Sep. 6th 2013 7:51 AM

This week we heard a story about Martin Lewis popping into a bingo hall for his series last Autumn, and we wondered if the self-proclaimed Money Making Expert was going to start advocating the game as a way to save money. In fact he was there to offer advice to people on the best way to meet the cost of living and he took with him Apprentice Star and runner-up of the show Saira Khan.

Martin Lewis, television and Internet money-saving expert popped into the local Point Bingo hall in Bracknell to dole out his advice, aimed especially at the older players who play at Point Bingo in the town. We were wondering if he might make this a yearly event, and we’ll be eager to see if he’s down the bingo with the blue-rinse brigade this Autumn too.
