Street Bingo

Well, you might be missing your trips to the bingo hall with the current lockdown situation, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get a game of bingo in, from the comfort of your own front garden. We’ve seen a number of people setting up Street Bingo games to take the edge of the lock-down isolation, and if you’ve not seen it, maybe it will give you the push you need to give it a go.

Of course, it is very much dependent on the weather, which thankfully recently has been good enough to enjoy sitting out in the street. It’s also dependent on practicising and sticking to the social distancing rules we have in place to stop the spread of Covid 19.

You’ll need a bingo caller, some tickets, some prizes and enough neighbours to make it a fun event. Here’s some photos (by Wayne Tugwell) from a bingo session that happened in Splott, Cardiff last night. You can see there’s a good turn-out and everyone looks like they’re enjoying a game in the sun.

I can’t think of a better morale booster at the moment. If you want to organise one, this would be my plan.

1. Get some bingo tickets – ebay’s a good place to start if you don’t have any to hand – click here to order some.

2. Get some numbers – you can make your own set of 1 – 90 and pull them out of a bag, or get a bingo cage. Here’s some you can order on ebay – click here to see.

3. Set a time to start, make sure everyone has tickets (can be put in an envelope and taped to their door before hand).

4. Get playing! You can use fancy bingo rhymes if you want a bit of entertainment, maybe come up with your own to amuse the neighbours.

And that’s it, simple really, a great way to get the street entertained in these lockdown days.
