Hefty Fine For Butlers Bingo

Thursday, Dec. 7th 2017 7:46 AM

In June 2016 the Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) upheld a complaint about Butlers Bingo and the site was told that it must ensure all of their ads contained the wagering requirements for promotions. You can read the full ruling here. The ommission of these details had resulted in them breaching two CAP Codes but what it also did was led the Gambling Commission to further investigate all the brands under the Broadway Gaming hat. These include Glossy, Rehab and Dotty Bingo as well as Bingo Diamond and Casino of Dreams.

The investigation by the Gambling Commission found that Butlers Bingo and it’s associated websites were all falling short of meeting the social responsibility standards that has been set out.

Dodgy Advertorials Create Issues For Gala Bingo

Tuesday, Oct. 10th 2017 7:02 AM

When it comes to advertising any online bingo site, or promotion from the same, we are all governed by strict advertising codes. Not only are there authorities that monitor how advertising is undertaken but there is also our own moral code that ensures we promote gambling in a responsible and informative way. However, not all advertisers follow either set of codes and sadly for Gala Bingo, this landed them in hot water recently with the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).

Across the Internet a number of articles had appeared advertising Gala Bingo in a less than acceptable manner. These appeared on a number of unscrupulous sites and all basically had the same storyline.

Gala Bingo Slapped With An Advert Ban

Thursday, Jun. 22nd 2017 7:46 AM

When any online bingo brand chooses to advertise their wares on television, they are required to adhere to a number of strict rules. These are laid out in the UK Code of Broadcast Advertising (BCAP Code). This code is applied to all adverts and over the years, many bingo sites have fallen foul of the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) for breaching a number of different codes. Recently it was the turn of Gala Bingo and an advert for a promotion that focused on The Chase bingo at their site.

In this instance, the one complaint that was received about the Gala Bingo advert was focused on the small print that appeared on the screen. The complainant felt that it was illeligible and the ASA agreed which resulted in the complaint being upheld, and the advert not to be shown again in its current form.

ASA Slaps The Arse Of Lucky Pants Bingo

Thursday, Jul. 7th 2016 7:19 AM

It was only last week that Butlers Bingo came under scrutiny from the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) due to missing Terms and Conditions on an offer. This week it is the turn of Lucky Pants Bingo for a similar oversight, but this time the offending offer was sent by text.

There was just one complaint about the text and as it turns out, the complainant actually had multiple accounts with Lucky Pants Bingo so wasn’t entitled to the offer received anyway. However, it is not the job of the ASA to look at whether a player holds multiple accounts with a site, but to investigate the advert itself. In this case, the site had omitted Terms and Conditions resulting in the complaint being upheld.

Winner Bingo Sexy And Seductive?

Sunday, Mar. 22nd 2015 7:31 AM

One of the sites we regularly visit to check for news on all things bingo is the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), the people responsible for regulating advertising across all media platforms. The reason we check often is that we do find some adverts, both offline and online, for bingo brands come under scrutiny from the ASA but the most recently had the staff at HQ facepalming! The cheesy, even cringeworthy advert from Winner Bingo has come under fire from not one but TWO complainants who each believe it to link gambling with sexual success and seductiveness. Are they not watching the same commercial as we are?

Mr Winner of Winner Bingo is about as seductive as granny pants or body odour!
