Where To Complain – Licensing Authorities

Play Costa Bingo!

On this page you’ll find contact information for the various gaming bodies that regulate and license online bingo. In the first instance you should always take your complaint directly to the online bingo company with which the compliant has arisen. If the company that you have the complaint with fail to satisfy you with regards to how they deal with your complaint, you can usually lodge a complaint with the licensing body.

You need to know where a site is licensed to make sure you know which body to complain too, as regulators can only handle complaints from sites which are licensed in their jurisdiction. Normally this information is displayed at the bottom of the homepage, or within the Ts and Cs of the site.

It’s worth noting the way the UK Gambling Commission recognise licensing bodies, as we’ll split these complaint bodies in to two sections as a result. The UK Gambling Commission allow sites that are licensed in one of two regions to advertise online bingo to a UK audience. Firstly, any country that’s part of the EEA (European Economic Area) is automatically allowed to advertise their services to UK bingo players.

This infers that regulators in this region reach a standard that the Gambling Commission are happy with, but unfortunately that’s not the case. Regulators have to be accepted as they are a part of the EU, and not because of the quality of their regulatory ability and strength. Certain areas within the EU that are allowed to license online bingo aren’t as rigorous and open as the Gambling Commission and by extension, the average bingo player, would like.

The second area that are allowed to advertise to UK bingo players are those on the Gambling Commission’s official white list of accepted regions. These are areas who’s licensing body meets the high standards set out by the Gambling Commission. In many ways, the licensing bodies for these jurisdictions are of a higher quality than some areas in the EU. They’ve earned their place on the list for the very reason that they tick all the boxes that the commission require.

Currently there are only a handful of areas that are on the whitelist – these are Alderney, Antigua and Barbuda, The Isle Of Man and Tasmania. There is talk that there may be changes to UK gaming laws that see only sites registered and licensed in the UK are able to offer their services to UK players. Here at Bingo VG we think this is a positive step towards protecting UK bingo players.

We should also point out that the UK Gambling Commission’s white list is aimed at sites advertising their services to UK players only. There is no law in the UK to stop site licensed outside these regions from offering their services to players in the UK. Our advice is to always check where the site you want to play at is listed and check if it’s at least within one of the regions with trusted licensing laws.

The below list features the most popular licensing regions for UK focused bingo sites. It is not a complete list, the site you have a problem with might be licensed elsewhere, in which case you will need to research where they are licensed and who to complain to.
