Classical Jackpot Joy Advert

The new advert from Jackpot Joy has been showing on your television screens now since Friday 12th October and features a cellist and a rather odd instrument of squeaky toys. The commercial, created by the Isobel advertising agency, uses Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D Minor for a battle between two musicians overseen by the Queen of Bingo herself, Barbara Windsor. The agency have quite a few big name brands under their belt and were responsible for the Bernard Matthews commercial that featured the well-known chef Marco Pierre White.

Adelphoi Music, who created the sound for the Jackpot Joy commercial, said that the notoriety of the piece by Bach gives viewers “a certain expectation” whilst the introduction of the squeaky toy instrumental contraption sideswipes them.

Bach’s Toccata and Fugue piece has been used in a number of films including Disney’s Fantasia, The Meaning Of Life and 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.

It’s a musical battle that suits the new slogan of the brand “Just for the Jackpot Joy of It” but as in the previous commercial for the site featuring the mobility scooter racing pensioners, Barbara Windsor actually appears on the screen very little. Could it be that like Vic Reeves and 888, Jordan and Foxy that The Queen of Bingo’s contract to the brand is coming to an end and they are going to “ease her out”?

The advert is definitely different from those we see from many other brands online today and it would appear that the use of bingo balls and women at laptops screaming over a win are becoming a thing of the past for those wishing to advertise their wares on the small screen.
