Are Cassava Sites Banning ‘Unprofitable’ Players?

Posted by: BingoDave - Wednesday, Jul. 28th 2010 9:37 PM

If you play at any 888 / Cassava powered sites, then you may just need to start looking carefully at how you handle your money. Over the last couple of months, I’ve been hearing an increasing number of reports from people who have been banned from Cassava powered sites on a number of different networks. The one thing these reports have in common is that players are what you would describe as unprofitable.

They all seem to share the same profile – they withdraw more than they deposit – and use their frequent withdrawals to refund their accounts and take advantage of the reload bonus. One has been told they’re abusing bonuses by doing this. Others have been told they are unacceptable as players as they only deposit funds when the site offers an extra deposit bonus. Either way, players are having their accounts frozen without warning, and some are having their winnings withheld as a result. Well, I’m here to say this sort of behaviour is not on, and appeal to Cassava to stop this shoddy behaviour. I’m also here to warn you about what’s happening, so as you can take steps to stop yourself becoming one of the banned.

Imagine walking in to your local Tesco and being stopped at the door by the manager. His reason for stopping you from entering his store is the fact that the last 10 times you visited the store, you only bought items that were buy one, get one free? Imagine being banned from you local bingo hall because you only play on the days when the books are half price, and then when you win you actually have the temerity to take your winnings away with you and not spend them in the club. Well, as shocking and unlikely as these real world situations would seem, it seems to be becoming a reality in the online bingo realm.

This sort of behaviour is simply not acceptable to us bingo players. If you don’t want us to take advantage of these offers, the answer is simple – don’t offer them to players. If you do, don’t punish those the rightly and smartly take advantage of them. It’s bad enough players normally have to wait a week to get their winnings back, but keeping them in a site to spend should not be considered the right thing to do. Ever.

I’ve heard from 6 or 7 players the last few months that this has happened to them, I’m sure this is just the tip of the iceberg. If this is becoming a policy for Cassava powered sites, then my time as a player with them is also limited. I only ever deposit when an extra deposit bonus is offered to me (I like getting something for nothing) and I always withdraw my winnings. In fact, I’d go as far as to say I withdraw more than I actually deposit. I wonder how long it is till my account falls under this ruling, if it is indeed what Cassava are playing at?

UPDATE: If you’ve been affected by this, please read this page also.

I to have just felt the sting of cassava, all my accounts have been locked and am still awaiting my pending withdrawl and account balance to be refunded. I can not belive they treat there customers like this and just hope and pray that enough people realize that you just cant win with these cheats. There logo should be CASSAVA WHEN YOU LOSE WE LOVE YOU BUT WHEN YOU WIN AND CASHOUT WE HATE YOU AND BLOCK YOU AND KEEP YOUR MONEY!!!!!!! CASSAVA DAMED WHEN YOU LOSE AND SCREWED WHEN YOU WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bonnie Says:

Come on cassva customers lets see the light and bring this empire down, after all it was all us players funding this crook cassava, if everyone got together who this has happened to surely people power could kick cassava butt. To all people thinking this wont happen to them be veeeerrry weary i have spent a couple of days since i was blocked researching this and belive me the same name comes up again and again Cassava cassava cassava

bonnie Says:

Lol can you tell im angry i have now composed a poem for cassva as a thankyou for my wonderfull treatment, here go’s.. Come back in your account theres a bonus we miss you, oh you won umm sorry a sercuity issue. We like you to deposit, we’re all getting rich but if you try to withdraw then honey your ditched!!!! Oh no you cant phone us no we wont speak to you coz we are cassava and we treat you like poo. Well goodbye cassava im not acting rash coz Never again will you steal my cash

bonnie Says:

Me again lol obsessed well not really just hate feeling ripped off and cheated if a site is not playing fair then what chance do you have, i would just like to know how when there are regularly taking funds from your bank without a peep how there is suddenly a serious sercuity issue when you want to withdraw. Surely if ther was a sercuity issue it would even more so apply to when there are taking funds from your bank account. Whats that cassava oh yeah you make the rules up as you go along to suit your selfs!

admin Says:

This issue seems to be affecting a number of players, and I hear more and more finding themselves caught out by it. Cassava / 888 really need to address this issue and either accept that players can win and withdraw as they choose or make it clearer that players will lose their accounts if they do.

bonnie Says:

Yes i agree but tell me how would sign up to a site if they clearly stated that if you were lucky enough to win there is a good chance that they will block you and not pay what you have fairly won. We deposit with good faith trusting that things are done properly but in cassava case this is not so

admin Says:

My best advice is to keep all the info you have from the site, request a financial log if you can no longer access yours, and get in contact with the Gibraltar Gaming Authority. You’ll find details on where to contact them in the complaints section.

rotfpmslmao Says:

I was banned from all of Cassava powered sites back in January. They refused to discuss with me why I was banned, the only reason I got was ‘security issues’.

I played all sites owned operated by Foxy (cashcade, mirror, bscotland, think, you name it I played it), Wink, BBR and 888ladies, to name a few. Winning the biggest jackpots on every site at least once, with my final big prize of a car at chrimo from 888.

The reason why I was really banned was because a member of management at Foxy ‘hq’ got fed up seeing my name appearing on the big jp winners list too often, especially on their competitors sites after Foxy had been plugging my name and piccie on their winners’ pages over the years.

They have witheld thousands of pounds worth of prizes on various sites for my ex-partner, my sister and myself, with no recourse for any of us. My crime was having 2 active accounts so I have no grounds for appeal, having reviewed their terms and conditions the GGA will not even consider anything. Their standard reply is take it up with the site, but these sites do not have an official complaints procedure – so how can we contact their complaints section?, this is also a beach of their licence which I have examined!!!!

I could go on and on, after having keep my mouth shut for the last 6 months, I thought it was only my family, friends and myself who had been affected but this is quite obviously not the case.

Players have very few peeps fighting their corner, their is a few voices, but the big companies just squash us down like flies :(

bonnie Says:

Banned because you were winning more like but is’nt thaat the point of gambling? you gambal your money in the hope that you may win more. Cassava need to make it clear to players if you win your mpore then likely going to have problems when you try to withdraw

bonnie Says:

And another point we are all funding these big companies,as i said before if everyone avoided these crooks they would either have to start playing fair or go out of businness

Coriander Says:

I have also been banned from all Cassava sites, the only reason seemed to be that i was winning too much on the slots. If i had lost as much as i had won they wouldn’t complain !

Camry Says:

I have also been banned from all 888/Cassava sites. I played responsibly and was winning. They had to make an excuse to close my account and kept about 1000 pounds of my winnings.

As a responsible company we are continually monitoring our sites. During this monitoring we note that the way you have used your account with us, leads us to believe that your reason for joining our site was to take advantage of the bonuses we provide.

With regards to your account, this has been reviewed and the decision to permanently discontinue your membership still stands. This decision is final and has only been taken after careful consideration of all factors involved. The account will remain blocked and any money in cashouts will not be paid.

To protect the integrity of Costa Bingo and to prevent further such abuse we have decided to block your account permanently. This is entirely in line with our Terms & Conditions to which you willingly signed up to when joining us.

We sincerely ask you not to open any new accounts with Costa Bingo in the future. In addition please refrain from opening any bingo accounts with bingo sites which are licensed and regulated under the laws of Gibraltar through Cassava Enterprises (Gibraltar). In the event that we locate any accounts opened by you with Costa Bingo or with bingo sites which are operated by Cassava Enterprises (Gibraltar) then we shall immediately shut such accounts and we will retain the right to permanently withhold all monies in such accounts.

BingoDave Says:

Hi Camry, how exactly did you play – did you only deposit when the offered you an extra bonus, or did you deposit on a regular basis? Did you cash out then redeposit quickly? Etc. Can you give us some more info on your usual practices please.

Dolly Says:

I was banned from all of the cassava sites about 6 weeks ago. The reason they gave was I was playing their free games
‘ in a professional manner’ and they witheld some of my winnings. As I am disabled and can’t go out much I did play the games all day but so did a lot of other people who have not been banned. One of my sons was also banned at the same time as me, for the same reason as me but they witheld all of his winnings. We were both annoyed at the time because we had both bought tickets for jackpot games and will never know if we won and if we did where the money went. Neither of us have tried to open new accounts on any of their sites.

Another of my sons joined two of their sites late last Wednesday afternoon and played for a few hours, he deposited on both sites. He logged in on Thursday to play in the debut room on one site and played on the other site as well. Friends of his came to see him and they were playing video games but he stayed logged in because he didn’t want to miss the debut room. He only clicked on one room on each site because it was easier but that evening his accounts were blocked. The reason they gave him was that his accounts were related to ones that had previously been blocked and his ‘regular strange gaming practices’ whatever that means. He wasn’t even on the site for two days, how did they determine his gaming practices??? Yes, he is related to me but he has his own life and used his own debit card and email address. He also bought tickets in the jackpot games and now he doesn’t know if he won and never will. This is wrong, they were happy to take his money and for no real reason banned him. They never mentioned if they were going to pay out the winnings he had.

Unfortunately this seems to be happening to many, many people, there is a forum where there are lots of complaints about cassava and their treatment of their players.

Vix Says:

It’s been interesting reading this as myself and several friends were banned from all Cassava sites around November last year; in my case the email stated that I was TAKING ADVANTAGE of their GENEROSITY (!!!!). In other words, mostly playing the free games and winning the real cash…now what’s Costa’s slogan that they parade all over TV? “Play for free, win for real!” Or should that be…”Play these legitimate games for free as we advertise, lose them all you like, but if you win the real cash we get in a mighty strop and bar you from everywhere.” What a petty stance for such a huge company to take, if they don’t want people to take advantage of offers and free games then they shouldn’t offer them in the first place…oh, sorry, the sites wouldn’t hook as many players then.

Can anyone who has been barred from Cassava tell me a few decent sites where I can get my bingo fix? You look at a site thinking it is run by someone else only to find after research that Cassava are in ultimate control…

BingoGal Says:

Hi Vix

There are numerous sites available online today that don’t use the Cassava/888/Globalcom/Dragonfish platform and network. Our section Bingo software lists all the available software for online bingo today. My suggestion would be to avoid Cozy Games sites at all costs (high wagering requirements and high minimal withdrawal amounts). Personally I love playing at Tombola Bingo – it’s innovative, has great cash jackpots on offer and a nice community feel. Free Bingo isn’t available here though. You can visit Tombola by clicking the link below:

Tombola Bingo

If you’re looking for a selection of free bingo games then William Hill Bingo are currently running a promotion where if you spend £30 on bingo tickets between now and 2nd May you’ll have access to a free bingo room every night from 3rd until 9th May. Each game in the Elite Club will have jackpots of £100.

Hope all that helps. Take a look around our site, you’ll find lots of interesting sites and we say it how it is, not how the sites want us to say it :)

Lolly Says:

I have just been blocked from Cassava sites and am going round and round with emails trying to figure out why.
I play at Foxy,Costa,City mainly playing the free games with the odd low ticket game here and there.
After bing lucky enough to win £25 last thursday at Foxy, I now find myself blocked from all cassava sites and told not to join anymore???!!
I have not used the reload bonus option so can only assume I have been banned because I actually won?
Surely to god this is not legal?
Anyone advise me please?
Thanks

Craig Rennie Says:

I have also this week been banned from all Cassava sites.
I play the slots and if they decide they want to offer re load bonus, then who is not going to take them?
I was also emailed by Cheeky to say I was abusing the free games lol!
I won £7 in about a month on them.
Basically they don’t want you to withdraw, plain and simple.
I won a few thousand over the months and they don’t like it.
I received phone call last week offering 100% re load bonus.
Took it on, deposited and won £80 on slots. Next day an email from Security at Cassava saying I was abusing their sites.
It was a set up.
However all pending withdrawals I did receive, so I was fortunate their.
Disgraceful all the same to treat people this way
Thanks

fay Says:

This has happened to me. I joined shampoo bingo last week as i googled ‘new bingo sites’…I lost £160 then won £600 on a scratch card. I tried to bank £480 but they have froze my account!!. I don’t know why?? I am a new member and met all the terms and conditions. They just don’t care and wont offer me any explanation, only telling me that ‘due to security they can’t tell me why!

Angela Says:

well today i got THE email from cassava, you are blocked for abusing the bonus system etc, my luck changed recently and i started winning, now this. They say they wont pay my winnings, time will tell. Dont know where i can play or am safe to depo on now, what a rip off

BingoGal Says:

Angela

I am really sorry to hear that you are another to hit the list of players banned with no real explanation as to why. Unfortunately I dont have the answer for you (I’m leaving it to David :))

What I can do though is suggest a number of sites that I play at that aren’t under Cassava. A personal favourite of mine is Tombola Bingo; it uses it’s own software and is probably the most innovative of all brands available online today.

Another, if you are looking for a bit more interaction with other players is BingoCams, more for the exhibitionist player though because if you have a web cam and its on, get lucky and your winning moment is shared with all the players in the room.

For a more ‘social networking’ kind of experience there is Wonder Bingo and they are offering a £5 no deposit required welcome bonus for new players.

If you want anymore help or advice about brands away from Cassava then feel free to drop me a line here :)

Thanks

Angela Says:

thanks bingogal, i will look at those :)

jo Says:

omg i didnt realise so many people have been banned from cassava sites as bad as it is its nice to see im not the only one i got banned last year and it still annoys me now lol i seeems to be hapening to people a bit to much

I am reading these e mails in utter disbelief.
I was blocked from Cassava last year Costa & Redbus.
For “bonus abuse”
Please please if you want to have any chance of
putting this company under pressure.
Complain to Watchdog, Gibraltar Gaming commission,
Uk Gaming commission.
Especially if they have witheld monies owing.
You have nothing to lose and they do.
It will cost nothing but a few minutes of your time.
I have complained to all of the above, and am hopeful
something will be done.
Bad publicity must make them reconsider surely

I too have been banned from using all cassava sites – the reason? they have an instant game called Quickfire Lotto and I kept winning playing this game, now I am seriously missing these winnings! Does anyone know a site where this game can be played (but not owned by cassava) I have trawled the internet for hours looking?? Any help will be appreciated thx

Peter Says:

Ive been banned from all casava sites. I withdrew some money, hope i still get it. It got refunded before i got blocked . Do u think ill still recieve it? U should still get what u have won fair and square

Debra Heybourn Says:

Exactly the same has happened to me – have comlained to the GRA but as they share the same office as Cassava I had no joy there. Will try to complain to the UK side- was also going to try the ITV channel as they advertise Foxy, WInk etc. Dont really know what else to do ????? anymore ideas anyone ???

Lesley Says:

I was blocked from Foxy last July, as was my husband although different e mail and bank account. His crime was to live in the same house as someone who won more than i deposited. In no way did i cheat (dont think you can really), just took advantage of bonus offers and played when the odds were in my favour (less people playing for set jackpots). I had quite a lot of money in the account when it was blocked as did he. There seemed to be a lot of people at the time winning a lot of money and i know they are still playing as my mum still has an account and ive had a look. How do they manage to stay on the right side of cassava, or are they fictitious maybe?

danii Says:

Dear Danielle,

Player Alias:mummy2lou

I have received your message and can confirm that your account has been blocked, due to it being very closely related to other accounts already closed by our department because you had disputes some transactions made to your account.

Therefore Danielle, I am afraid your Tasty Bingo account will remain permanently blocked.

We respectfully ask you to refrain from opening further accounts with casinos owned and operated by Cassava Enterprises (Gibraltar) Ltd. Any accounts opened will be immediately blocked and the deposits not refunded.

Thank you for your time and understanding.

And people just keep on coming forward! cassava are the biggest cons going!

yupmetoo Says:

I was banned from Wink about 18-months ago for “security issues”. My crime was to usually break even and to once win £800 funded from the winnings off free games. So far Im still allowed on all other cassava sites but reading the number of complaints Im increasingly uncomfortable with still playing them. Arent the Government looking at making all gambling sites fall under UK laws? Maybe thats the way to go re complaints – take it to your MP. And Watchdog on TV.

sue smith Says:

hi ,yes me to got banned from wink, foxy ,for same reason abusing bonuses, they kept my money around £ 400,wich at time was pending ,they should be exposed as fraudsters
its them that cheats us

ADRIAN KEEBLE Says:

Just got my email today from Cassava. Banned permanently for excessive use of free games. Across all the bingo sites I had accounts with them I am owed £161.56. Unbelievable, I can’t believe they get away with it. I was depositing over £100 a week on Posh and Wink and still they banned me.

Diane Oldham Says:

YES THEY DID IT TO ME TOO, i deposited i then played, won a little – withdraw then HEY PRESTO – ACCOUNT BLOCKED – and every site they own too.I love fluffy favourates too – anybody know other sites which do this but not under DODGY CASSAVA

My_turn Says:

I got my blocked cheeky account message today – apparent bonus abuse. I was a member of 15 Cassava sites and find that they are all blocked, all have some form of funds in them because of the way I play the game. Not cheating but depositing £5 at a time so as not to receive bonuses.
I have sent a long email going through their message and their T&C’s breaking it all down. I also cc’d this to the Guernsey regulating authority and Cashcade which is the UK element of the site.
Suppose they will make me wait the full 72 hours for my response.

me to Says:

my story is exactly the same happened monday …

lara Says:

bingo hollywood warned me today also ,same theme! abusing reload bonus say my account will now be closely monitored?
why I ask myself ,you deposit £10 ,ok you win a little bank say £30 and you lose the free bonus money anyway? so then you deposit £10 again and thats my crime !so bye bye hollywood !!!!and all cassava sites . Maybe land bingos not so bad after all

I to have been banned from cassava sites
I have also complained to cassava, to the Gibraltar gaming authority and to watchdog.

The only way to hurt these people is by word of mouth from bingo players. I suggest you tell as many people as you can to avoid cassava bingo sites, also use your email signiture to tell people to stay away from these sites
I think of it this way… for every player i direct away from cassava they are losing hundreds of pounds
Hittting there pockets is the only way.. Based in gibralta and sharing the same building as the gaming authority makes you wonder what underhand dealings maybe going on.. Backhanders for turning a blind eye or threats of people losing jobs are all possibilities..
So you need to target uk based players and authorities where cassava will have very little sway

The day cassava go bust will be a good day in my life

Happy bingoing everyone

oh my goodness !!!! how many people have had this done to them recently !! Have had my account blocked on Cassava site for the crime of depositing £5 to add to £25 free win so I could withdraw the minimum £30 !! Needless to say they won’t pay out. Have played for a long time and they have had hundreds of pounds from me … they take your money immediately but if you win it takes 10days for them to pay you back. They are stealing money by witholding our winnings. Someone should be able to do something about this. Will watch this forum closely just in case anyone can help

sharon(gazshaz68) Says:

I received the same email from cassava saying they had blocked my accounts for abusing the bonus. In total over all the sites they had blocked I had over £3000.00 processing and pending, that is all the money I have in the world. Yes I was stupid for wagering so much on each site but I didnt commit any crime, I have emailed them several times this morning but am still to receive a response. I am absolutely devastated.

I have also been banned and had all my accounts locked. They owe me over £800. I have been sending emails etc but they are refusing to pay me. I played in the name of Tenerifexxxx and was quite lucky on the bingo. So some of you may remember me.

paul4422 Says:

i have the same issues about costa bingo and brits and sing i have been booted out of the sites as i was winning them i maid the mistake of playing free bingo as well that is the reason they give me for being booted out not the fact that i was winning

trash4cash4422 Says:

i had had the same issue as well been playing for over 2 years got up to platium level and out the blue they kick me out because iwas winning they said the same it was becouse a was using the free games if you dont deposit you carnt play the free games so what is there problem if you lose all the time you can stay in there sites but if you win good buy

taz78 Says:

I too was a player on cassava sites and had become a gold member on Costa which was the site I played on more, this meaning that they had recieved plenty of money from me. Yet due to the fact that i played on free as well as in paid rooms. I was accused of playing professionally as I withdrew any monies I won whenever I could, This resulted in be being banned. I did receive the monies that were owed to me totalling £200 so I was more fortunate than others.
